The Transport Ministry says Nile Tech Sdn Bhd does not have access to the MyJPJ database. It also says no user profile data is sent automatically when users tap the insurance renewal link in the app.

The Ministry of Transport has clarified that Nile Tech Sdn Bhd does not have access to the MyJPJ application database. It said the insurance renewal feature in MyJPJ is only a link that sends users to the Nile Tech portal.

According to the ministry’s written reply in Parliament, all insurance renewal transactions are completed on that external portal, not inside MyJPJ itself. Any information entered there is then governed by the portal’s own terms, conditions and privacy policy.

The reply was given in response to a question from Datuk Che Mohamad Zulkifly Jusoh of PN-Besut on safeguards against third-party access to personal data. MOT said the arrangement is meant to give MyJPJ users another online channel for vehicle insurance renewal.

MOT added that Nile Tech was appointed through a process set by the ministry and JPJ, with specific terms and conditions. The company does not have exclusive rights, and the government said the service does not cost public funds.

What it means for you: if you use the MyJPJ insurance link, you are sent to Nile Tech’s portal, so check that portal’s privacy terms before entering any personal details.
