GWM Wey G9 HEV and Ora 5 HEV roll off EPMB Melaka

EPMB has started local assembly of the GWM Wey G9 HEV and Ora 5 HEV at its Melaka plant. The company says more than 10,000 GWM vehicles have been CKD-assembled in Malaysia and more than 1,100 Wey G9 units have been exported to Thailand and Indonesia.
EP Manufacturing (EPMB) held a line-off ceremony this morning for the GWM Wey G9 HEV and Ora 5 HEV at its Pegoh, Melaka plant. With these two models, EPMB now assembles eight vehicle models in total.
The other models assembled at the plant are the GWM Haval H6, GWM Wey G9 PHEV, MG ZS, MG S5, Xpeng G6 and Xpeng X9.
EPMB said some parts are localised for both the Wey G9 HEV and Ora 5 HEV, including the front frame module assembly, rear axle assembly, instrument panel and wiring harness. For the Wey G9 HEV, the seats, centre consoles, cooling module and interior door trims are also locally sourced.
The company said more than 10,000 GWM vehicles have been assembled in Malaysia since October 2024. It also said more than 1,100 CKD Malaysia Wey G9 units have been exported to Thailand and Indonesia.
What it means for you: Malaysian buyers and workshops can expect more locally assembled GWM models, with some parts already sourced in Malaysia.
