RM1,000 one-off aid for taxi, rental car and school bus drivers paid automatically

Eligible taxi, rental car and school bus drivers do not need to apply for the RM1,000 one-off aid. The Transport Ministry will use existing government records and pay in stages by direct transfer.

PUTRAJAYA — Transport Minister Anthony Loke said eligible taxi, rental car and school bus drivers will receive the RM1,000 special cash aid automatically, without any application process.

He said the government will identify recipients using existing databases from the Land Public Transport Agency (APAD) and the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board (LPKP). This means drivers do not need to register, fill in forms or queue up.

Loke added that any drivers who are left out can still be considered through their associations. The ministry will verify the names submitted by the groups.

The aid will be paid in stages through direct bank transfer. The programme was launched for the Central Zone first and will then be expanded to Penang, followed by the southern zone and other areas.

According to the report, the special payment was announced in Budget 2027 and is meant to help drivers cope with higher living costs, including vehicle maintenance, spare parts and insurance.

What it means for you: if you are a licensed taxi, rental car or school bus driver, check your existing registration details with your association or licensing records instead of submitting a new application.
