KPDN seizes RON95 samples from seven Selangor stations over contamination complaints
KPDN Selangor has seized 27 RON95 petrol samples from seven petrol stations after 10 complaints claimed water-contaminated fuel damaged vehicles. The samples will be analysed by the Malaysian Chemistry Department.
The Selangor office of the Ministry of Domestic Trade and Cost of Living (KPDN) has seized 27 samples of RON95 petrol from seven petrol stations. The action was taken after 10 complaints were received claiming that water-contaminated fuel had damaged vehicles.
According to state director Muhamad Hanif Asa’ari, the inspections were carried out on 16 October 2026 after public complaints and social media reports began circulating. The collected samples will be sent to the Malaysian Chemistry Department for laboratory analysis.
KPDN said initial checks found that all seven stations had valid Controlled Scheduled Articles licences and licences under the Petroleum Development Act 1974.
The ministry has issued notices under the Trade Descriptions Act 2011 to require documents and information for the investigation. It also reminded station operators to maintain underground storage tanks properly and keep them within safety and quality standards.
What it means for you: If your car shows fuel-related problems after refuelling, keep the receipt and any workshop report so you can support a complaint or investigation.
